Abstract

ABSTRACT
One of the good and popular leadership models that has received many responses from researchers since the early 1980s in terms of management and change in organizations is the transformational leadership model. Effective leadership in mosque management will result in productive management performance. One good practice for improving mosque management is found in the Nurul Islam Mulyarejo Mosque, Surabaya. This study aims to reveal the role of transformational leadership in presenting mosque management. This study uses a qualitative method using a case study approach. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the transformational leadership of the chairman of the takmir of the Nurul Islam
Mosque is able to create major changes in the management of the mosque through belief, self-confidence, self-sacrifice, passion, integrity, and clear goals. The chairman of the takmir is able to explore creative and innovative ideas through previous experience in managing mosques and is able to improve the skills of the administrators through learning from professional mosques. The chairman of the takmir pays attention to the needs of the congregation as well as takes care and is able to provide solutions to any problems that occur. Finally, the chairman of the takmir made himself an inspirational figure and invited the administrators to carry
out their duties with the intention of worshiping. The results of this study are expected to be a solution for the head of the takmir who is just starting to manage
the mosque.
